We have observed dramatic climate change within certain areas over the last several centuries. We are all on full notice that climate might not stay the same. It might change for the better, worse or not at all. To which degree is not certain. Too many are conceited with certainty, that is unwarranted. On the most part and where most people live, the climate has been very stable for several hundred years.
We need to be cautious that we even have good knowledge of what the climate was, and humbleness in thinking we know what it will be. Official predictions by government approved or paid for scientist are rarely better than predicting the average of the past. When we look back at 30 year predictions from 30 years ago, we have unimpressive results; however they claim that we must trust their 100 year and longer predictions.
It is not governments’ job to try to keep the climate the same or rescue people from the change. Governments’ attempts have mostly impoverished people and impeded proper adjustments. We should let the much richer and more knowledgeable people of the future deal with these items. We already know how to take CO2 out of the air, however not that efficiently. In the future, they can do that more efficiently.
We are getting better at solar, hydroelectric and wind. When that overtakes burning fuels economically, we could see over a 90% drop in man-made CO2. Nature is the largest producer of CO2 and it is very much needed in nature. There have been massive releases of CO2 in volcanic activity. Nature seems to have many systems in place to balance CO2 and other levels out.
Plants and trees ‘breath’ in CO2 and ‘breath’ out oxygen. Animals breath in oxygen and breathe out CO2. We can measure, kind of, greater tree growth in higher CO2 environments. Plankton and bacteria can vary with levels of CO2 to even out CO2 levels. Almost all organic material ‘burns’ through biodegrading releasing heat, methane and CO2.
Oil, coal and natural gas is thought to be really old trees, plants, animals and other organic materials that just got buried deep enough before biodegrading. Trying to stop CO2 and methane because they are green-house gases is foolish because the green-house effect is what is keeping us alive on this planet. Too much and too little green-house effect is certainly important to consider and man’s effect could make a difference, however we need to be humble in knowing the right levels.
We are not going to damage anything that bad. We are not going to use up everything. Sure, we need to be good stewards of the environment and not do stupid stuff; however, nobody is advocating that, however we should not impoverish people currently for minor and uncertain results in the future. It is important to realize the proper balance of risk and reward and be humble in our knowledge of either.
People in this current climate change issue needs to address some of these major points. Too often they take statistics out of context and assume too much. They often make assumptions that are not thought out enough. Worst, they compile many misconceptions until they are way outside of reality. They only look at their good points and rarely look at the downside of their policies.

Plate tectonics is underappreciated

Plate tectonics is underappreciated in climate change talks. It might be because the Left cannot blame capitalism on it. However much of our climate is effected by the oceans and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge could change currents and hot-spots when the ocean floor is newly bulged or changed. There are plates throughout the earth and all of them are playing a role.
How much heat is radiated from areas near old faithful or the Hawaiian Volcanoes? It has been well documented that volcanic ash thrown in the air had over a one degree change in worldwide temperature averages in the 1980’s. Rock layer research clearly shows volcanic activity at different levels over the centuries. We know that the hot spots change over time and that effects climate.
High levels of CO2 and other gases from under-ground can profoundly change gas levels locally and often world-wide. Often a change in one area, has major effects thousands of miles away. More dust storm in Southern Africa could start more tropical storms that threaten America. Making sure all the dirt in Africa has vegetation on it might make a difference in limiting the number of storms that hit the Gulf Coast. In America, we had the Dust Bowl, however once America became populated enough, we limited loose dirt and mostly eliminated dust storms.
So, has the climate changed? Will it change? First, let’s be humble in even knowing what it was 30 years ago, less 145 years ago and very little what it was 3,000 years ago. We have proxies however they are unimpressive. Predictions of the future has been mostly wrong over the last 100 years. The question of climate change is really multifaceted with many unknown variables and inputs.
While the climate is always ‘changing’ because that is the nature of climates. There is rarely something not seen before and yearly averages have always fluctuated. Inches of snow, hurricanes, high temperatures, frozen lakes, vary widely year to year. Many people talk in overblown terms regarding differences from 'normal' weather and worse their solutions make matters worse.

<![CDATA[Climate Change: We Can Handle Any Change That Comes Our Way]]>Sat, 26 Aug 2017 20:51:01 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/climate-change-we-can-handle-any-change-that-comes-our-way
There are hundreds of different climates throughout the globe. Some are popular and some very unpleasant. Very few people live in the hottest or coldest places on earth. People tend to shy away from places with too little precipitation. People adapt to their surrounding or move to another. If the climate changes, it is likely to be similar to existing climates.
Climate change has been going on for centuries. Since people currently live in almost every conceivable climate, it is unlikely that climate change would cause that much damage or be something that we cannot handle. Sea level rise or fall can be handled. Lower colds or higher hots can be adapted to. We have adjusted to too much and too little rain fall. We are better at predicting and guarding against storms.
With the exception of something big from outer-space hitting us or massive tectonic shifts, we can handle anything that nature can throw our way. The greatest effects of climate is out of mans’ control. However man does have the ability to adjust. Man can move, build better, grow different crops, or otherwise adapt. Man could build entire cities in the open oceans. Necessity is the mother of inventions.
Over a half million people live in the dessert of Las Vegas and three-fourths of a million in the coldness of Alaska. There are hundreds of cities with distinct climates and people adjusted to their climates. It is foolish to think that people could not handle what might be coming with 2-5 or even 10 degree changes. It might be worse or it might be better, both are likely true in different ways.
We, the people of earth, can handle whatever comes our way. With greater wealth, more knowledge, more technology, freedom and liberty, people will find a way to handle issues. We see storms kill thousands in third world cities where the same storm kills dozens in developed nations. Improved infrastructure, buildings, and products stand up under worse conditions. Better technology and experience gives us warning to prepare.
The greatest challenge will likely be the statist assumption that they governments will need to change it back or control people through the change. The Left wants government to fix all problems with heavy government control. Keeping government out of the way of free enterprise is the best way to allow people to handle Mother Nature.
Government trying to fix and control things has led to so many problems of people doing the necessary and proper adjustments. Free enterprise prices in land, labor, services, and products are vital in dealing with changes. The role of prices is one of the first casualties of populist sentiments directed at politicians. Government ownership in so much of the infrastructure, lakes, and rivers really hampers the role of prices doing it’s job.
The Left advocates for higher tax rates that lowers prosperity. It is that prosperity that allow us to adapt to climate change. Governments monopoly on regulations also are very damaging to our economy because there are so many ineffective and hostile regulations that inhibit economic growth. The Left has the notion that prosperity is harming the planet.
Unfortunately, the Left often wins the battle to keep third world nations poor and unable to build, adapt, and prosper. A big part of that is energy policy. The left advocates and forces billions of people to have very low standards of living and life expectancy now to try to stop climate change that is unlikely and/or minor.
Coal taxes, ethanol, limits, CAFÉ standards, foreign policy bans among others are all harmful to all the peoples’ ability to adjust to climate change or even better handle their current climate. Energy is the fuel that will runs the engine of freedom and liberty, thus the Left opposes it.

<![CDATA[Scientist: Humbleness needs to make a stronger showing relating to the average global temperature]]>Sun, 20 Aug 2017 18:01:02 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/scientist-humbleness-needs-to-make-a-stronger-showing-relating-to-the-average-global-temperatureScientist: Humbleness needs to make a stronger showing!
What is the average global temperature?

Everyone is convinced it is rising; however how many people know the average temperature? Not, many, and there is even less clarity of the factors that go into the average. Without factoring in humidity and air pressure among other factors, you really are missing a lot. Are we measuring water, rocks and sand? How high and how deep should we measure? How often should we measure?
Picture
Picture
80-degree dry air has less heat than 79 degrees air at 100% humidity. The temperature of dry air increases faster than humid air. The temperature drops with a rain. Higher pressure air is denser than lower pressure and that matters. How high do they measure, are we really just measuring 5 to 7 feet up? 100, 1000, 5000, or 30,000 feet up should all be part of the average. Is the thin air at mile high Denver factored? How difficult is it to measure all the air around the earth? It is a daunting task. I really take issue that it even can be done in a precise way.
The water temperature is also a huge factor. The air holds less than 1% of the heat that all the water of rivers, lakes and oceans hold. It matters. How about the earth itself, the rocks and soil holds a lot of heat, how important and difficult is it to measure rock, sand and soil and how deep do we measure? Do scientists conveniently just leave those huge factors out because it is too difficult?
Picture

Okay, is measuring the same spots day after day and year after year with good controls sufficient? I suppose that if seven thousand locations around the globe showed an average of 5-degree warmer air, we would have enough to be statistically significant, however I believe they are too conceited when talking about hundreds of a degree. About one full degree is about as confident as they should attempt, however that might not bring in the grant money.
I did many small experiments with my children. I bought 10 thermometers outside and placed them in 10 different locations within 50 yards. After 30 minutes, we charted the temperatures. We did this in many scenarios. We did not need tenths of a degree measures. They had differences within about 30 degrees F. I explained the reasons for the differences. The metal jungle gym was hot to the touch. Our dog knew the shade was cooler. The bushes’ natural ‘evaporation-breathing’ cooled the air. The breeze from the pavement was hot, however the lake was opposite. A brief rain cooled down everywhere. Bright sunshine at noon radiated more heat than at dawn or dusk. Cloudy days warmed slower yet cloudy nights cooled slower.
Picture
While I know national weather official measures have many controls to try to limit those variables, I also know it is very difficult to keep those conditions stable over the years. A new road, bush, tree, fence, among dozens of other items really throws the measurements off. The type of paint used on the measuring stations had about a 0.5 degree effect. There have been serious questions relating to significant changes close to most official measuring stations.
While all our tools might be able to tell the differences between 2015 and 2017, we have to be very cautious of our knowledge even ten or twenty years back. That tree grew or was chopped down. The new sprinkler system 1000 yards away dropped the temperature. The new fence blocked the breeze from the pavement. The flocks of geese are now living close by. The official caretaker of the station changed and did things a little differently. A mishap was not reported as to stay out of trouble. Yes, all these issues can have big effects.

It is a well-known fact, in the grant money world, that global warming is the preferred outcome. People reaching other conclusions are at greater risk of not getting that next grant. There are many ways to make adjustments to reach the preferred outcome from outright fraud, cherry-picking data or simply using statistics that have qualifications that are easily over-looked in headlines or by politicians.
If you only pay people who believe in global warming, you bias your results. If a scientist or researcher only sees grant money going to those getting a certain result, their future earning potential is considered. If you have control of the official measuring station, you could add rocks close by to radiate more heat.
Picture

You could paint with darker colors. You could cut the grass lower than it was before. You could build a fence that blocks that cooler breeze. You could park your car closer. The issue is that if someone wanted to nudge the average MEASURED temperature, it could be done, sometimes by action and other times by inaction.
While 30 years back is difficult, it becomes very problematic going to 1915 or even more so to 1715 or the year 715. Scientist who thinks they can tell within a degree what the temperature was thousands of years ago is folly. I know they try to take ice cores and look at tree rings among other proxies; however humbleness needs a stronger showing.
Picture

Certainly, log books from 150 years ago can show some valuable data; however, there are likely major problems of precise reliability and whether proper controls were met. Records show Iceland or the great lakes as being colder or having more snow fall a few hundred years ago; wind pattern change is likely the cause. There are so many factors that go into climate, that proxies are very problematic.
It is very difficult for scientist to measure how much heat enters earth every day and how much is radiated back out to space. How much is radiated from the center of the earth? How much cloud cover and the color of those clouds all make a difference either by reflecting the sun back or making a blanketing effect. CO2 levels certainly matters; however, it is just one of many effects.

<![CDATA[What issues should we consider when voting for president?]]>Sun, 18 Sep 2016 18:18:00 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/what-issues-should-we-consider-when-voting-for-president
In a few months, the American people will go to the voting booth to vote on the President and members of House and Senate. Given that there are dozens of very serious issues that affect our lives greatly, and given that there are dozens of preferences within each issue, it is highly unlikely that one of two choices will match your preferences on all the issues. In addition, you do not get to be governed by the person you choose if they do not win.

The solution is that we restructure government so issues are spread out to different groups. Moreover, in most cases, on most issues, the group you choose, will govern you. The group your neighbor chooses, governs them. You get to pick your group per major issue.
The federal government’s main and really only responsibility should be foreign Policy. That is very important and people should be able to concentrate their attention on that issue alone when deciding on federal elected office holders. All other issues would be dealt with at the state level or within free enterprise. See how I structure free enterprise to take over many current government functions at Haley2024.org
When deciding President and members of congress, your attention should not be on regulations, health-care, k-12 education, family law, labor law, colleges, roads, taxes, monetary policy, welfare, economics, police, Social Security, judges nor the dozens of other items the federal government should not be involved with.

<![CDATA[The four big reasons black communities suffer]]>Sun, 25 Oct 2015 19:05:30 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/the-four-big-reasons-black-communities-suffer
I firmly believe that no race of people are better in terms of DNA. Every person of every race or gender has great and powerful inherent worth. Every person is made in the image of God. The big difference of the outcomes of the races when it comes to education, earnings, family life among others is ideas, philosophy, values and viewpoints. Beliefs and culture play a large role in outcomes.
The philosophies of liberty and protection of rights has made America, an exception to the world. While the four points below have certainly harmed the white populations as well the black populations, the black population has certainly suffered more. The solution is to teach better ideas and values to replace the harmful ones.
Government currently plays a negative role by trying to ‘solve’ these problems by government control. I truly believe that the ideas in Haley2024 The Movement will, over some time, solve these problems. The largest problem and the ongoing cause of more problems is broken families.
Oppressive Mentality
When stereotyping whites, police, businesses and government as oppressors, this group inculcates their children with the mentality of victim-hood and ‘not having a chance’. THAT OPPRESSED INCULCATION IS THE TRUE OPPRESSION.
A small child holds a sign saying ‘Don’t Shoot’ and sees their parents and neighbors holding others signs about police hunting them down to shoot them. Over the years, they are fully convinced that cops are the enemy that WANTS to gun them down, so when they do something foolish, as all kids do, and encounter the police, they decide to fight for their lives. They will often end up dead or in prison for what started as a minor mistake.
Government Education
Government is spending about $900 billion on education (all three levels). That is about $8,000 per household per year for life. This spending gives government very heavy control of education. This obviously means the parents have less control. Often government schools are failing to teach good values or just teaching a world view that is hostile to that of the parents.
Parents, students, teacher and the schools lack the freedom to do things better or switch to another school that is getting better results. There are many reasons why government schools fail and yet stay open. In free enterprise, failing schools go out of business and properly empowered parents choose better schools. Yes, current government education policies harms families of all races, however inner city black families are injured the most. The $8,000 yearly education taxes reduce job opportunities and push up the cost of education.

BLOG: •The role of prices are highly valuable to achieve the proper levels of goods and services. Prices are also the best way to distribute the goods and services.
Individuals or organizations helping people out is a great thing to do. Government doing so does much more harm than help. The structure of that help is very important. It is hard work and takes Godly wisdom to truly help bring people to independence. Government’s hard and fast rules of when to give help does great harm as people put themselves in that position of need, to get benefits.
Government welfare has resulted in a greater rate if fatherless households. In the black communities, the rate of broken families has reached high levels. While fatherless homes always harm children, it is amplified when large neighborhoods have very little examples of healthy marriages and father figures. Government welfare encourages broken families and groups them together creating great harm.
Abortion
Cheapening Life
Unfortunately, there are many people that talk about alive human babies as an ‘IT’. for example' 'it's a boy'. People get desensitized to the fact that lives are sacred and extremely valuable. When life is less valuable to you, you do not find it important to sacrifice for others in their time of need.
This manifest itself in violence and not caring for others. The high respect for life is the most important thread in the fabric of society. The long list of leaders and supporters of Planned Parenthood has a very racist past and thus located the majority of their ‘clinics’ in black neighborhoods. It is highly unfortunate that they have succeed in killing and devaluing human life in inner city black populations.
Self-Government means that people take care of themselves by serving others in return for others serving them. It is called being interdependent. We only turn over to government a very few things that only government can do. Haley2024 shows many ways that many current government functions can and should be free enterprise endeavors. The more government does for the people, the less self-governance they have.
The more government provides for a person; the more government has control over that person. The greater control government has over a person, the greater the potential for oppression. While I list the four large issues, lets understand that there are many others such as high tax rates, regulations and other attempts of government’s ‘help’ and protection that does harm.

<![CDATA[Where do Rights come from?]]>Sun, 04 Oct 2015 19:16:24 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/where-do-rights-come-from
Where do Rights come from?
God is the simple and correct answer, however for the non-believer and even the believer, let’s go deeper. Everyone has a solemn unspoken and unwritten agreement that, I do not harm you and you do not harm me. So everyone has a right not to be harmed and comes from this agreement.
Laws emerge from trial and error and the society comes to have an understanding of a just punishment for a harm (crime). Government codifies some of these with legislation and others are just enforced by the people themselves. People enforcing includes ‘shunning’ or other social exclusion techniques that can be very effective in bringing people in line with societal norms.
Rights, here are described as something that is just protected, meaning government does not infringe (do harm) and also are involved in punishing perpetrators that harm others as described in legislation. Unfortunately, our language also uses the same word ‘rights’ as ‘owed to people’, as in someone or the government has an obligation to provide goods or services to people as opposed to just protecting them from harm.
If one’s rights stop when they start infringing on others rights, than the word ‘rights’ should not describe government providing goods. If someone has to work and do labor to ensure you have something, their right to their own labor and property are infringed. This type of ‘rights’ should be labeled as ‘entitlements’ or ‘government obligations’.

I do not need to write much here as this is a very simple case of free enterprise verses protectionist policy. I fall clearly in the free enterprise camp and Certificate of need laws are anti-consumer and has never proven to meet the goals of their proponents. They fear adequate capital, both human and monetary will not flow into an area if they cannot keep out competition. That unfounded fear is used as a way to bully city councils to give special treatment. It is amazing how often those being protected show their appreciation with major donations to campaigns .

Civil means without a criminal conviction. Asset forfeiture means the government taking (stealing) assets. This could be cash, cars, houses, boats or any other assets. This is clearly wrong.
Many people have done great research on this injustice, unfortunately this has not been fixed. Major reforms are needed to protect people’s property. While crimes need to be punished, we need to abide by Fourth Amendment. Nothing should be taken without a conviction.

<![CDATA[Is the next president constitutionally allowed to follow the law as written and not give subsidies to people if their state did not set up an exchange?]]>Sun, 19 Jul 2015 18:22:21 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/is-the-next-president-constitutionally-allowed-to-follow-the-law-as-written-and-not-give-subsidies-to-people-if-their-state-did-not-set-up-an-exchange
While the ACA (AKA: Obama-Care) is highly damaging in many ways, the King v Burwell 6/28/2015 created many new problems.
First, the old problems, the ACA totally destroys the very important role of prices in the medical and insurance markets. The ACA profoundly increases the number and severity of regulations around health care. Every regulation are laws that restrict business models and the ACA is constantly ruling almost every health insurance policy people want illegal. The regulators are forcing or highly influencing buyers and sellers to agree to contacts that are less desirable then they have had in the past. To many, the contracts allowed are so undesirable, people choose to go without.
This decision went a long way in removing limitations on the executive branch from taking power away from the legislative branch. Chevron Deference gives the executive branch power to interpret the legislation to the executives liking, however within limitations of reasonableness of the language of the law. In King V Burwell, Roberts increases the executive power to overlook the clear unambiguous language of the law and ‘create law’ within the limitations of whether it is reasonable to the purpose of the law.
This is not just boring legal opinion stuff that never affects people. This has major effects of taxing and benefits within the ACA that takes and give big money through the tax system. However, with Obama’s history of going way beyond his power (because the other two branches fail to try to stop him), we have high potential of Obama changing many laws and just claiming his ‘new way’ will accomplish the purpose of the law more efficiently.
These decision creates other major concerns of over-reach of liberals in the executive branch.
In the EPA, there has been clear language holding back liberals from shutting done free enterprise and replacing with heavy government control, which is their solution to many issues. This decision empowers the EPA to ignore the law and just make things up if they claim it would help the environment.
In the tax laws, is the IRS empowered to change rates, limit deductions, stop exemptions, expand their scope, increase tax welfare or make a host of other changes if they just claim they are furthering the purpose of the law.
The list is endless and very troubling.

<![CDATA[Should anti-discrimination laws force young actresses to do porn?]]>Thu, 16 Jul 2015 20:50:28 GMThttp://haley2024.org/blog-on-issues-of-the-day/should-anti-discrimination-laws-force-young-actresses-to-do-porn
There are a rash of law suits regarding people refusing service to willing buyers of goods or services. Bakers, florists, caterers, farm owners (venue), among others people are being targeted in lawsuits for refusing service to a same sex weddings. This clearly puts anti-discrimination laws in direct conflict with the constitutional protection of freedom of association.
Pornography is legal and there are willing producers that would love to go into actress agencies and pick young actresses and purchase their services. With the exact same logic as caterers refusing services when they object to the content around their services of a gay marriage, likewise many actresses would object to the content surrounding performing in a porn movie.
Just as customers are free to discriminate on what services they purchase and who they purchase it from, so should businesses offering services. Free enterprise means both sides must agree on the contract or sale. Just as there does not need to be a genuine religious belief in order to deny services to a gay wedding, there should likewise be of no need for a heart-felt religious reason for an actress to refuse to do porn. An atheist should have all the rights as a true believer.
